Excerpt :

“Rothwell.”

A pair of showy dark bay horses drew even with him, followed by an extremely fashionable curricle.

“Bentley.” Resisting the urge to smile, Gideon raised his quizzing glass, reviving a long-standing joke between him and his cousin. “When are you going to learn to select decent horseflesh?”

“If you really cared,” Bentley retorted, “you would have been here to help me, and not off in Canada dressing in bearskins or whatever it is you wore over there.”

The carriage came to a stop.

“Harrumph,” Gideon scoffed. “While you are here and obviously have nothing better to do, I would appreciate a ride to Doctors’ Common.” He needed to tell Templeton about this latest development. Not waiting for his cousin to answer, Gideon climbed onto the curricle. “You may also tell me what is so urgent I must drop everything and come to Town immediately. As it is, you’ve left me kicking my heels for two days.”

Bentley started the horses, but immediately turned to face Gideon and dropped his ribbons.

“Watch what you’re doing!” He grabbed the reins from his cousin’s slack fingers.

“Blast. I forgot.”

Bentley reached for the ribbons, but Gideon shook his head. “I think I’ll keep them until you’re finished.”

His cousin heaved a sigh worthy of Drury Lane. “I am in love, and I need help convincing her to marry me.”

Gideon loved his cousin like a brother, but he had no idea how he could assist in matters of the heart. Then again . . . “Happy to do whatever I can. Who is the lucky woman?”

“Didn’t I tell you?” Bentley asked, surprised.

“No,” Gideon replied with all the patience he could muster. “I received a letter from you telling me you needed my help, but you failed to give the reason.”

“You probably don’t know her in any event. She came out just this year.”

He raised a brow, hoping to hurry his cousin along.

“Lady Louisa Vivers.” Bentley said her name as if she was the sum of all his dreams.

Hell and damnation! Could my luck get any worse?

~~~~~~~~~~~~~
Excerpt:
“Are you accusing Kitty of going after your brother for his money?”
“She wouldn’t be the first.”
Willie set her jaw firmly, just as she always had when she was angry. “A decade later and you’re still following your father’s example. You still think the worst of women, don’t you?”
“I’m simply waiting to be proven wrong.”
“You were,” she said quietly, almost too low for him to hear.
“Once, Willie, and even that’s debatable. Every woman after you has fulfilled my lowest expectations.”
She looked away, a pale blush spread across the creamy pale skin of her chest. “Mrs. Turner,” she reminded him, facing him once again. “Kitty’s not like that. She doesn’t need his money.”
“Both your parents are gone and last time I knew, you hadn’t a penny to your name. How can she not need my brother’s money?”
“Because I make sure she’s taken care of. I’d do anything for that girl, no matter how silly or naïve she is. She’s still mine to take care of.” She jutted her chin proudly, just as she always had. George had to remind himself that this was no longer the stubborn, hopeful young woman he once knew, but a strong, experienced widow standing before him.
“Mr. Turner left you comfortable then?”
“My finances are none of your concern. We are doing quite well considering our circumstance.”
He found that hard to believe. “Beg your pardon, Mrs. Turner, but a vicar and a viscount are two very different things. Now, if you don’t mind, I’ll need to get on the road soon. I heard mention that there might be a great deal of rain coming, possibly snow, and I doubt the weather will hold off much longer.” He turned his back to her and continued gathering the necessary items from around the study.
“I can’t allow you to go by yourself,” Wilhelmina protested, ignoring his less than subtle hint that their discussion had ended. “There’s no way I could possibly trust you to address this situation fairly after the unwarranted judgement you’ve already made regarding Kitty’s character.”
“It’s only unwarranted if it’s not true and that remains to be seen, now doesn’t it?”
“I won’t let you do it, George.”
The use of his given name stopped him cold. He took a deep breath, then turned to her, arms folded across his chest. “What exactly do you propose I do then, Mrs. Turner?”
“Take me with you.”
BLURB BLITZ & GIVEAWAY ~ HOW TO CATCH A COWBOY ~ BY SANDRA MADDEN
How to Catch A Cowboy
by Sandra Madden
~~~~~~~~~~~~~

GENRE: Western Historical

BLURB:

Matilda Rose Applebee isn't looking for love when she captures Cooper T. Davis at gunpoint. Her younger sister is in the family way and claims Cooper is responsible. Matilda aims to haul the snake-belly back to her sister's waiting arms. But Cooper insists Matty's sister is mistaken as they begin a long and dangerous journey.

~~~~~~~~~~~~~
Excerpt :
"You're the best dancer of all," she said, gazing up into his eyes, a beguiling smile on her lips.
Moist, pink lips, full and sweet. Lips he yearned to kiss. "Matilda Rose, be careful or you'll bewitch me," Cooper warned.
She laughed, a light lilting laugh, as if he'd said something terribly amusing.
As they danced slowly, silently, the tantalizing movements of her body pressed to his, propelled Coop's heart into an irregular rhythm. The smoky simmer of desire curled through his core, shot to his fingertips. Like some demented soul, he continued to torture himself with a woman he could not have.
When the music ended, his lips grazed the top of her head, stealing a taste of her sweet, silky hair.
Matilda Rose stepped back, her lips parted in a dazzling smile, her eyes sparkling as they met his. She had no idea how he felt, how much he wanted her.
This mostly truthful biography is longer than most of my books. But the older you become, it seems the more there is to say.  Whether it’s important or not.  Whether anyone is listening.
I was born in New York City but raised in Winthrop, Massachusetts, a small isthmus that juts into the Atlantic Ocean five miles north of Boston. During the long cold winters – read REALLY COLD! – I read and I wrote. My favorite authors were Bronte and Austin before they became required reading. I wrote stories to amuse myself which led to writing the 6th grade school play. When I discovered drama classes in the ninth grade, I gave up writing for a few years. And, yes, I was the perky cheerleader who played Emily in Our Town.  Not a dry eye in the house!
Following high school graduation my family moved to the warmer climate of South Florida - just when I was getting acclimated to the constant cold.
At the University of Miami, I majored in Radio/TV/Film. (As the program was called in those days - and one of the first departments of its kind in the nation.) I minored in drama. (Due to the public broadcasting budget each person is expected to fill a variety of roles for one salary. One small salary.) I focused on How-To series, public affairs – of the political kind - and women’s issues. During this time I met many inspiring women who shared their stories with me, women whose remarkable achievements, great spirits and strength influenced my work as I started to write. First, I became a published poet. It didn’t take much time for me to write short verses.
As with most writers, I wrote my first historical novels in the evenings after my day job. A second wind is required to do this and it magically appears with the passion for writing.
Passion for the writing and persistence in submitting are the keys to becoming a published author.  The secrets of the sisterhood gleaned from lessons learned along the way.
Not long after being published I discovered that a writer’s life is not all about the voices in your head demanding release to a page – frequently at an inopportune time. And it’s not all about three figure contracts, champagne tours and as much chocolate as you can consume. Oh. No. A writer’s life includes thundering deadlines, dry spells, assorted blocks, carpel tunnel syndrome and frozen shoulders. Occasionally, the green-eyed monster rears her head and wraps grown women in knots. But most of all, writing romance is a wonderful love story in itself. There is nothing else a romance writer would rather be doing. She is totally in love with romance and with the ability to share her stories with gracious readers. Thank you, dear reader.
No Games
“What is this place?” Mia asked. “One of the private rooms?”
“You might say that.” Brandon turned the pad to her. “There. That should cover it.”
Grabbing hold of the pad, she knitted her brows as she read. Agreement Contract. Rule #1: What Brandon McLemore deems appropriate stands and Mia Santero will follow. There were two signature lines below it. She snapped her gaze to Brandon’s and practically screeched, “Wait. Are you nuts?”
“Not in the least,” he drawled, gifting her with customary penetrating stare. “That rule covers everything that will go on between us.”
Mia felt the blood thud in her temples. Unable to hold her tongue, she scoffed, “That rule isn’t a rule. It’s a diktat! How am I supposed to abide by a command that gives you complete freedom and authority to do as you see fit? You’ll have all the power. Over me.”
“Little researcher, you asked if I’m good,” Brandon began, incrementally closing the distance between them. The power he exuded stole the thoughts right from her brain. His gaze dipped to her mouth, then rebounded to her eyes. “Darlin’, I’m not good. I’m a machine. I like it rough, raw, and I don’t hold back. I’ll make it my job to know what you want, but more importantly, what you need. There’s a huge difference, and that’s what distinguishes who commands and who pretends. I don’t pretend.”
“But…” She swallowed, believing every word he’d said. “You’d have to pretend with me.”
He reached out and cupped her chin in his warm hand. “No, I won’t. That’s not what you need for this project or otherwise.”
“Then what will you do?” Her body hummed from the heat in his eyes. “I need to be certain I know what to expect.”
“That’s fair,” he murmured. “We can both get what we want. You want privacy and so do I. Out there. But when we’re alone, there won’t be any games between us.”
BLURB BLITZ & GIVEAWAY ~ WILDE THING ~ BY JANNINE GALLANT
 THE AUTHOR WILL BE GIVING AWAY:  A digital copy of the featured book. Don't forget to enter rafflecopter below.
WILDE THING
by Jannine Gallant
~~~~~~~~~~~~~

GENRE:  Contemporary Romance

~~~~~~~~~~~~~
BLURB:
The Wilde brothers are addicted to the rush of adventure. But one of them is about to learn no matter how often you look for danger, you don’t want danger finding you.
For extreme skier Tripp Wilde, pushing the limits is what he lives for. Unfortunately, the inherent risk takes a toll on his body. After an injury sidelines him, he ends up in the care of his little sister’s best friend, physical therapist Hannah Ryder—who has grown up in all the right ways since they last met.
Hannah doesn’t mix business with pleasure, even though she harbored a maddening crush on the irresistible Tripp years before. So, while Tripp tries every slick maneuver he knows to bed her, Hannah uses her own moves to keep the hotshot skier cooled off while trying to control her own growing desire for him.
After the pair witness what they think may be a murder on the slopes, along with the men responsible, no one believes their story. But when a series of unlikely accidents suggests they are being targeted, the two will have to trust in each other like never before if they are going to survive.
EXCERPT:
When the door to his hospital room opened, Tripp didn’t bother to glance up from the text he was trying to send one-handed. He fumbled the phone and swore then tossed it down on the bed. “Damn it. This sucks. I feel like a freaking invalid.”
“Problem?”
His chin came up as his gaze shot toward the doorway. Not Jake, who’d left to get something to eat and promised to come back later to drive him home. Hannah Ryder. His little sister’s old college roommate. Once in a while, when he was actually home and not to the far corners of the world, he caught sight of Hannah around town, but they’d never been anything but casual acquaintances at best. From the way her golden eyes narrowed on him, Tripp got the feeling she could take him or leave him…and would prefer the latter.
“I guess I wasn’t imagining you were on the hill this morning when they hauled me out of the avalanche.”
“No, you weren’t.” She advanced into the room and stopped a yard short of his bed. Hands tucked into the pockets of her down jacket, she regarded him steadily. “How’re you feeling?”
Strong was the word that sprang to mind as he studied Hannah. Those golden eyes reflected intelligence in their depths along with a mental toughness. Model tall but without scrawny angles, this woman looked capable of taking down any man stupid enough to mess with her without permission. Not that he’d ever try.
Tripp let out a breath. “Uh, I’m feeling okay. A little loopy from the pain meds. I imagine my shoulder will hurt like hell when they wear off.”
“Probably, but they’ll give you more drugs to manage any discomfort. I ran into a friend on the nursing staff out in the hall and got the basic facts. No fractures. That’s great.”
He scowled. “The dislocated shoulder is bad enough.”
“And only a mild concussion. You were extremely lucky. You could easily have been killed.”
He rolled his eyes. “Aren’t you Miss Glass Half-full. Lucky would have been not getting caught in the avalanche. Really lucky would have been finishing my run before the cornice broke free.”
Her golden cat eyes darkened to the color of her tawny-brown hair as she tucked a stray lock behind one ear. “I’ll report back to Eden that you’re not going to drop dead anytime soon…unless one of the nurses gets fed up with your bad mood and kills you.”
