BLURB BLITZ & GIVEAWAY ~ SHEIK DEFENSE ~ BY RYSHIA KENNIE

Sheik Defense
by Ryshia Kennie

~~~~~~~~~~~~~
GENRE:   Romantic Suspense
~~~~~~~~~~~~~

BLURB:

Tossed overboard, Ava Adams had been left for dead, drifting at sea. But security specialist Faisal Al-Nassar was determined to find her. He owed her father a great debt and had never forgotten the connection he and Ava had once shared. Yet after rescuing Ava he discovered she barely remembered him
Amnesia had left Ava uncertain of who had tried to kill her. She did know, however, that Faisal was a man she could trust. The sheik's embrace was familiar and enticing…and possibly even more dangerous. How could she succumb to feelings for her protector when what she didn't know could get them both killed?

~~~~~~~~~~~~~
Excerpt One:
Ava Adams opened her eyes. Her head ached and something deep inside her hurt. That hurt was overshadowing the thumping that seemed to want to break her skull. Yet it wasn’t pain. Not a physical pain but something more emotional. Fear. Anger. She didn’t know what. Instead, she shivered. She was alone and she wasn’t on the yacht. Where was she?
The yacht was gone. She had no idea what had happened to either it or her father. It had disappeared while she’d slipped out of consciousness. She had no idea how long she’d been unconscious. Nothing held any relevance, not time nor space—nor anything that had happened. All of it was a frightening blur.
The breeze ran light, cool fingers across her damp skin and she shivered. She didn’t know how long she’d been unconscious, all she knew was that she was alone and there was no land in sight. Her head pounded and her vision was blurred. She couldn’t see clearly no matter how hard she tried. She was fighting to remain conscious so that she could make that promised call to get help. Her father was counting on her.
The thought made her prop herself up despite her shaking limbs. She tried not to look at the dark water. There was only a thin layer of rubber and canvas between her and it. She couldn’t think of it any more than she could contemplate the fate of her father. All she knew was that the yacht was gone and with it her father. She didn’t know when it had disappeared or if her father was on board or if he was even alive. She struggled to sit up and the world spun. She took a deep breath and passed out.
The next time she came to, she could see that the sun was higher in the sky. It was behind her and she guessed that she might be heading west. She had no idea what that might mean about where she would end up. Or if she would end up anywhere except maybe at the bottom of the ocean.
Fear threatened to overwhelm her even as her gut knotted along with her fists. Her head spun and she had to fight not to black out again. She needed to think and yet she was fighting not to lose consciousness again. She needed to get help not just for her but for her father. He needed her. He was alone.
That thought collided with another. Was her father alive? She’d heard the gunshot as the life raft had slipped away from the yacht, carried by the ocean current. There had been silence after that as she’d drifted farther away.
The gunshot had echoed long after the actual event. The haunting reminder was like an omen. She could die out here and her father could already be dead. Those scenarios were ones she couldn’t, wouldn’t consider. Not anymore. She refused to think of him as anything but alive—just as she was determined to reach land, one way or another.
She took a deep breath and again she fought to sit up. The life raft rocked, threatening what stability it had as water sloshed in the bottom. She wasn’t sure how it had taken on water unless it had been in those first moments as it had gone from the yacht to sea. The sea had been rough. It hadn’t calmed much since then. It was cloudy and the breeze was picking up, only a bit of sun peeked through the otherwise dreary sky.
She had nothing. She looked down. She was virtually naked. The skimpy sleeping outfit had been a bad choice. Fortunately, her father had thrown his jacket over her. Who would have known that a trip that had begun as a lark would end like this?
It wouldn’t end.
Determination shot through her chilled body. She had too much to do with her life. She had a new career that had yet to begin. Again she repeated that promise to herself and to her father. They would live. He would live. They had to.
Something cold pressed against her hip. She slipped her hand under the waistband of her panties and pulled out her father’s phone. She’d forgotten it was there.
Her heart stopped. She remembered that he’d handed it to her. It was a miracle that it had not dropped to the bottom of the dinghy, into the water that was gathering there.
She held it, the memory of her father handing it to her clear in her mind.
“Call Faisal.”
She knew, as did her father, that if anyone could help them, it was Faisal. He headed the powerhouse investigative company run by his family, Nassar Security. At least he was in charge of their Wyoming branch.
The phone slipped in her damp hands.
 AUTHOR Bio and Links:
The Canadian prairies are my home and while the prairie landscape is blessed with beautiful blue skies, it also has four seasons that come on full throttle – especially winter and because of that I like to travel.  Often on those trips, stories are born.
In 2011 I won my city's writing award, and was the first romance writer to do so since its inception.  In 2013 my romantic suspense was a semi-finalist in the Kindle Book Awards.  Published in historic romance and paranormal romance as well as romantic suspense, in February 2016, my first novel was published by Harlequin Intrigue.
There’s no lack of places to set a story as my imagination and the too long prairie winters may find me seeking adventure.  The memories of those worlds both near and far, the words of a stranger, the furtive look one man gives another, often become the catalyst for a suspenseful story with a deadly villain and an intrepid hero and heroine who must battle for their right to love or even their right to live.
When not dreaming of other stories, I can be found scouting out a garage sale or two, dusting off my roller blades or just thinking about the next adventure that may be miles away or in my own backyard.
Excerpt:
Undone By His Desire
Micah watched the emotions cross Daisy's gentle features. The shock was evident, the pain recognizable, and the realization she had family was priceless. She folded the piece of paper and put it back in the envelope. She looked up at him, the tears in her eyes tugging at his heartstrings.
"I have sisters," she whispered.
"Yes, two. You are part of triplets."
"I always wanted a sister, and now…now I have two. How insane is that?" She shook her head. "What is Poppy to you?"
"A friend. I've known her for a few years. She's such a sweet lady, and she wants to make things right, she wants to try and bring you all together."
"Have you found them?" Daisy asked.
He nodded. "Rose lives in Wilmington, and Jack has already made contact with her. Jasmine lives in Chester, UK. Kent landed in Manchester a few hours ago. I'm not sure yet if he's made contact yet."
"Jack and Kent are your business partners?"
"Yes, we were all in the Navy SEALS together."
"I need a little bit of time on my own, Micah…I need to think."
His gut clenched. "Do you want me to leave?"
"No, but I'm going to go walking for a little while."
She turned and put her hand against his unshaven jaw, the heat of her skin making him turn his face into the warmth and close his eyes for a second.
"I don't blame you, Micah."
His eyes flashed open.
"You're only trying to help a friend out, but this is so big. Can you understand how hard this is for me? I always knew I was adopted, but sisters…" She shook her head. "I'm thirty years old, all that time has passed and I never knew and that's what I don't know if I can forgive Poppy for."
He covered her hand with his own and turned it over, kissing the palm. "Think about it, Daisy. I'm not going to push you into anything. It's entirely your decision whether you want to meet Poppy and your sisters."
She smiled at him, such a warm, caring smile. "You misunderstand me. I will definitely meet with my sisters, that's unconditional." She pulled her hand away. "It's Poppy I'm not sure about."
He turned as she made her way out of her sitting room.
"Daisy?"
She stopped in the doorway, her hands shoved into the pockets of her sweats, her head slightly leaning to one side.
"Promise me one thing."
"What?"
"You'll think about the circumstances surrounding why you were given up for adoption."
She nodded.
"And…"
She raised her eyebrows.
"Last night."
She blushed furiously, a lovely pink shade.
"Last night was beautiful and had nothing to do with why I'm here. I really do like you and would like for us to see where whatever we feel takes us."
She shrugged. "There is no us."
"Yes, there is. You just don't want to admit it."
She walked out the door without replying.
Damn it all to hell and back, he hoped he hadn't blown it, not just for Poppy but for himself as well.
GENRE: Romance
~~~~~~~~~~~~~

BLURB:

When duty calls and Patrick must leave her side, will Harper be strong enough to make her dream a reality?
~~~~~~~~~~~~~
Excerpt:
“How would you bring in new business, though?”
I’m amazed that he seems to find our conversation interesting. He’s an audience willing to listen and I’ve not had that in a long time. Damn this crush of mine. It won’t be easy to tame after tonight.
“New menu items, specials, things like that. Start serving dessert, like pies. Easy cook items. With the new burgers I’ve created and a new d├ęcor, I’d open in the summer when the air is fresh and everyone is happy to be out of the snow, hungry for grilled food. I think we could do fine.”
“What’s your hold up?”
“Tony, Dad. It’s complicated.” I shrug. His arm feels good, and I have the overwhelming urge to nuzzle against it. "Did you kiss Amy Parker when you were twelve? She still brags about it." Did I just ask him about kissing? What is wrong with me? Will this mouth of mine never shut up? Stop it, Stop it, stop it!
"That I did, in a closet over at Robert Anderson’s house."
"Ew."
"I was twelve and desperate. You can't blame me. I do blame that stupid soda bottle.  And your first kiss?" There is a challenge in his voice.
"Kevin Monroe at the Klines Movie Theater. He sent me a six-page note the next day about how much he loved me, and I freaked out and dumped him."
"Any regrets?"
I choke back a giggle. "Naw, ‘cept I remember I liked his cologne. It could have been aftershave, but it was nice." It’s not half as nice as the Aramis that Patrick has on. Something about it sends a shiver up my spine that has nothing to do with the zombie waiting in Dad’s office.
"The dark isn't so bad, now is it?"
"I guess not."
Silence surrounds us. The fear that enveloped me seems to disappear.
"Are you seeing anyone?"
"No." It sounds terrible now that I've said it out loud. Like I’m admitting to being a desperate and dateless leper.
"So," he drawls out, "ever thought of dating a military guy?" He squeezes my fingers.
Is he serious?
His fingertip smooths over the rough callouses I've gained from years of hard work. Suddenly my wasted evening of not going out to celebrate is starting to look better. "I think it would depend on which military guy."
"You're killing me. You know that, don’t you?" His strangled tone only sets off a case of the giggles.
"Are you asking me out, Patrick?"
"Trying to, but you're not making it easy.” The challenge is back in his voice.
"I wouldn't mind a date or two,” I manage to squeak out. Breathe, Harper, just breathe, calmly through your nose, out your mouth. Sainted Mother of God, Patrick asked me out! I hit the jackpot! Now all I have to do is not hit him.
BOOK BLAST & GIVEAWAY ~ HEARTHSTONE ALPHA ~ BY A. C. MELODY
Hearthstone Alpha
by A.C. Melody
~~~~~~~~~~~~~

GENRE: Paranormal Erotic Romance

~~~~~~~~~~~~~
BLURB:
All Reyna Daniels wants is to secure her return home to Minneapolis. The last thing she needs is to find her world completely inundated by the magnetizing, hostile Corbyn Bruschard and his group of male-model friends.
Corbyn's not ashamed at being everywhere, since it's his territory, and he's certainly not going to apologize for trying to keep Reyna safe. Especially when she's his mate.
With all signs pointing to an old enemy's return, Reyna's going to have to suck it up and face her ancient Norse heritage fast. That doesn't mean she has to accept being mated to an Alpha who threatens all of her hard-earned independence.
~~~~~~~~~~~~~

EXCERPT:

He visibly reined it back, calmed. “Why not just let him play hookey for the day?” He suggested, apology lacing a tone that still sounded very determined. “It’s only for a few hours, Serena.”

“Because, it’s routine, Corbyn,” Serena countered. “His father and I have already discussed it. I will be joining Justin at school today. Auntie Rey, too, if she wants.”

“Well, I was going to—” Reyna started, when Corbyn’s eyes flashed to hers.

“Go to school with your nephew,” he finished for her.

No apology this time, just straight up authority.

“Yay!” Justin clapped, jumping out of Reyna’s arms and taking off out of the room again, which forced Serena to follow, but not before she leveled Corbyn with a stern look.

In the silence that followed, Reyna couldn’t tamp her anger down no matter how hard she tried.

“I don’t like bullies,” she stated clearly, looking Corbyn dead in the eyes.

“And I don’t like having to bully,” he returned gently, sincerely. “But I will do whatever is necessary to keep everyone here safe. That includes you.”

Reyna eyed him, unable to find the voice of reason inside her that should have been asking why he found it was his place to protect anyone in that household, when that should be her brother’s job. She turned away from him and felt his strong fingers curl under hers again. It succeeded in stopping her, but she didn’t look back this time.

“You can’t make me the enemy already, Reyna,” Corbyn stated passionately. “I’m just getting started.”
